SodabiGod
Sodabi is the palm spirit of Benin, distilled from palm wine and poured at every threshold of life: births, weddings, funerals, ceremonies. Under colonial rule, local distillation was banned to protect imported alcohol. Sodabi kept flowing anyway, distilled in secret, shared among people who refused to let it disappear.
It started as a joke: tees with the name of a liquor. Then we saw that even through a drink, you can stand for something. Blackness Sodabi honors the spirit. Blackness Libation honors the gesture, the drops poured to the ground for those who came before.
